You have heard me say it before…it’s all about the finishing touches! Throws are a nice finishing touch because they are not only decorative but can be functional as well. Nothing like curling up on your sofa on a cool night and having a throw to keep you warm.
Throws also add another layer of texture, pattern or color. They make your sofa look inviting and your room feel like home.
I’m often asked by my clients about the right way to drape a throw. There is not just one right way because the look is usually casual, like it’s there to be used, has been used and it’s waiting for you to pick it up again. Here are a few ideas…
One way is to drape them from the back of the sofa and down the seat, adding color and texture all the way down. Layer pillows on top for a finished look.
You may lay your throw across the seat of the sofa, either folded for a more tailored look or casually thrown. See how these add color, pattern and/or texture to add a very interesting layer to your sofa.
You may also lay your throw across the arm of the sofa. There are several ways to do this – start at the arm and lay across part of the seat or fold it to just drape across the arm.
Throws are a great finishing touch, whether you are going for a more tailored look, a very casual look, or something in between. Use them to add an extra layer of color, pattern or texture and take your decor to the next level!
